Brigitte’s path to VALID Connect has been shaped by creativity, resilience, and a deep commitment to advocacy.
She began her career as a journalist, writing about music and alternative culture, while also volunteering with VALID — including a much-loved stint as host of the iconic Having a Say karaoke sessions. After a life-changing car accident that resulted in acquired disabilities, Brigitte turned her lived experience into a new mission: advocating for people with disability and promoting gender equity.
Since 2018, she’s worked with women’s health services and Women with Disabilities Victoria as a facilitator and empowerment officer, helping others find their voice and stand strong in their rights.
Now, Brigitte brings her storytelling skills and writing expertise to VALID as an Easy Read Content Writer — creating clear, accessible resources that make sure everyone has the information they need to understand, decide, and take action.
And there is a beautiful full-circle moment in it all — VALID is the very organisation her father founded when she was just a toddler. Now, she’s proud to carry on that legacy in her own voice.
